I ask this because one day I was in South Beach, so we decided to walk on the beach after partying, 2.30 a.m or something and then the police came and escorted us outside saying that was not the hours to be there.

So I was wondering if this is new measure because of the assassinate of that guy several months ago in Miami South Beach or what, but I was wondering what other options do we have in Miami to just walk on the beach during the nights.

I was exploring some stress on Miami Beach with Google maps and found some nice streets lie 34th, 42th, and up but the more up I looked it up, the more private beaches looked like or completely distraught.

I went northern up to 79th-82nd street where there is a park and same thing.. Closed.. I thought then about Hallouver Beach, but they do close the beach around 7-8pm, so what other options we have in Miami? What about those beaches on south? Cradon Park or surroundings.

Huh... I used to take a walk in the shore around 10 pm and no one ever came to me and told me that I shouldn't be there.

The simple answer is No, it isn't, which is why it's closed. Think about it, it's dark, there is water with waves...no lighting...no one around....then you have a lot of transient people in a touristy and alcohol-centric entertainment district, in the middle of a major metropolitan area, with no police presence....

Over the years there have been horrific nighttime attacks/crimes on the beach (I mean on the sand, at night). Sure, some people venture out, but it isn't the idlylic, romantic place after dark like you see in movies. Too many wierdos and people looking for trouble out there. Plus, if it's closed, why is it even an issue? I think it's closed to prevent people from getting into trouble in general, not because it is so inherantly dangerous.

^^^ Great post. Exactly, the beach is a perfect place to be robbed, its dark, far from the crowds and no one is around. Not a good place to be late at night, unless you want to be a potential target.

I'll bet it's safer than walking down one of the main avenues/streets. Have you guys ever been stopped by dudes asking if you need a ride? Gay cruisers are ****ing scary. A lot of serial killers were too.

1st night walking up Collins Ave 1985 I walked past this wild crack house. Didn't even know what it was. Had $4 in my pocket - was out looking for a store to get a bite.

A crackhead ran across the street waving at me. He came over asking if I had any money. I told em only four bucks. He asked if I wanted to split the cost of a rock. I said no thanks dude. He said "well what do ya say you just let me get that $4 then?" I began to fume this punk was gonna rob me of my only four dollars?! I said "Do you wanna fight?" No one was taking my only four dollars w/o bruises. He got all weasely and slithered away - apparently not. Coming from NY I wasn't used to squeamish hustles. It was usually give me your money or we beat the sh*t out of you.

Anyways so I went on my way and found a cuban store selling whyabas (yeah, I know, sp!). On the way back some dude in a car slowed down and asked if I knew where there was a liquor store. I said I thought I just walked past one down on the corner of fifth. He asked if I would get in and show him where. I said sure and did. I really didn't want to walk past the crackhouse twice.

We ride down and he gets some MD2020 from the store. Seemed like a cool dude. I invite him back to my place for a drink and a smoke. Walking in, my old friend Tchukie - the French Ballet Dancer from WW2 - looked at me like I had two heads. Anyways we go into to my apt.

We smoke a doob and drink some booze. After hangin out a while the dude says to me he likes my pants - what kind are they? Thanks, I don't know I said. Come over here and let me take a look. Okay says my high ass. I go over - next thing ya know is he's undoing my belt buckle. I jump back - Whoa! Dude! What are you doing?! Back up a little more - I say Oh dude, ya know it's just occurred to me - I don't even know you at all! For all I know you might be gay or something! He got this weird look on his face I had never seen before in my 19 years and scurries out the door.

I walk out to the front porch and and go see Tchukie. I said Tchukie, I just had the weirdest thing happen! She said did you know your friend was gay? I said well I didn't at first - but i sure found out! She goes Are YOU gay? I go hell no! Tchukie, how could you think such a terrible thing of me? ...

There often are creeps on the beach at night. If you don't meet creeps, you might meet cops who think you are a creep and give you the third degree. Surviving all of that, the sand fleas will munch you down faster than Rudy Eugene on a basalt binge.
