Your judgment on things is too racially inclined.
Well, at first thought you had thought like that; however, when you see the whole picture, the accent thing, the personnel details, the northern states, ummm, not sure... it suggest me some kind of "discrimination" which is different from racism cuz I am a white Latino.

and in regarding your question, oh come man.. everybody knows how gringos look like.. the typical baby blue eyes and blonds, browns, and stuffs and same thing with black Americans and thier "u nau wot I'm saying dude" and their unique style that is different from Black Latinos.

Winter and you are wrong. My accent is ok for the Americanaverage accent born in Miami. Maybe I used a strong term, but it doesn't detract from the fact she suggested northern states spoke better English than Floridians. OR are you saying Floridians got an annoying accent to Northerns?

You continue to amaze!

You fail to see that you continually discriminate against groups without remorse, yet when it happens to you, you're up at arms and expect other people to be as well.

Unbelievable! H-y-p-o-c-r-i-t-e

You have made some serious seterotypes there and really it is border line racism.

I have family members with Blue eyes. Hey guess what, they were born in Cuba!

Also if you speak anyway like you type. Well then I easily see why you did not get a job that deals with people on the phone. Learn how to write some decent English.

Again it is not racist if they felt that your accent was not good for a job which you are on the telephone for.

And Gringo? Really Gringo?
This is America you know.

I went to an interview yesterday with this company to get an attractive telemarketing position offer just to find out I won't be hired just because my English doesn't fit with the northern states?

This company offers a product, energy & gas, which is now deregulated in those states by now, so ppl can switch now to whatever energy provider desired, but why to settle up a company in Doral if most ppl here speak that Miamian English accent? I realized most of the personnel there was black Americans and whites. No Hispanics there.
umm

All I came up to my mind before to leave the place was, "call me when you are ready in Florida to call Hispanics there" and then they gave me that relieving smile...

I am not sure if it is a tendency here but every call center or those big companies I have gone here or either are full of Black Americans or full of Cubans with few exceptions and so on.. Umm

What do you think, is there any kind of subtle racism in jobs here?
People from the North are probably 1,000 times more demanding than your average West coast or southern customer.

It is possible the company wants to hire people without accents since so many jobs have been outsourced to India and many Americans cannot tell the difference between an indian or hispanic accent. I think the HR person gave you too much information, she should just have said she found more qualified candidates.

There are plenty of African Americans and hispanics with no accents who can do that job in Miami. The truth is that they are better qualified because the average american cannot stand the accent of those who learned English as a second language. It sucks but it is what it is.

That's more of a DOL (Department of Labor) thing. You should research related Statutes, Laws, etc. That may possibly - though I don't know, would need more details - be unlawful; and I'm not a specialist at all in that department.

And I don't have much reason to believe there's an underlying race war going on currently in Miami, there's just a few racists here and there unfortunately - which is relatively common in most cities of this country and even worse in some of them.

Definitely you are a day late and a dollar short. Don't confuse description with discrimination. I suspect that was a projection of your own condition.

No, the only who is making serious "seterotypes" ( I hope you are not an English teacher) is other but YOU! And you know what? When I came to Miami the only ones who told to be AWARE of black American ppl were Cubans!

and.. excuse me, but my type is more than "cooking like gas" that contrast strongly with your boo-boos, and I don't feel so making essays for you to make you happy while lying in my bed at mornings before to wake up.

and yes, gringos.. and gringo is not pejorative but warm-hearted term. When you got better social bonds you will understand that term.

but, nah, I really don't feel the need because it was just a doubt that assaulted my mind and that right moment and it was not frankly direct against me. Maybe the excessive effort in not offending me that the interviewer put on me made me this mischievous.. lol but thank you. Nice answer.
