I have been looking for a home to buy in miami, I have allergies so anything like musty/mold smells, dust, pets having lived there, etc. is enough to make a house not livable for me. Because of this I've been looking at homes that were constructed in the past 10 yrs or so. I just saw a listing for a house that was built in the 1970s but is completely remodeled - new floor, windows, everything. What are the pros and cons of buying an older house that is remodeled inside? Is it likely to have a lot of problems, or is the construction better?

I'd say just go with a newer built house almost always beats a remodeled old house anyday.

Personally homes built in the 70's and earlier are typically well built homes compared to homes built later. Typically you will find Dade County Pine roofs, which you can't get now a days. Now the real question is if this home was redone recently was it redone properly?

I've only looked at homes built in year 2000+ so far. It says CBS construction, but I thought that was only in homes built after hurricane Andrew? The inside looks very nice in the pictures, but the exterior is definitely nicer on newer homes.

^^^ I would agree with Coconut, you would need an inspector you trust make sure they didn't cut any corners which many flippers will do to save as much money yet make the most money at the same time.

Look it up on Google streetview. The picture is from April 2011- not even two years ago. If it looked like that on the outside I could only imagine the inside.
But that's not to say they did a bad job with it, just be extra careful during the inspection, as doggie said.

This has been my experience. Also, I had mold issue with a home built after 2000 so newer construction isn't necessarily better, especially if the home was built quickly as part of a larger community. What I like about older homes, particularly in the southern portion of the county, is that it is possible to find out how it weathered Hurricane Andrew - neighbors can be particularly helpful in this regard.
