question about english in miami/white people

A "Mestizo " is one of white / Spanish and native Indigenous stock . My sister lives in Weston which is about 50% hispanic and all of her neighbors that are hispanic .... Argentine, Venezuelan , Colombian , Chilean are all fair skinned Caucasians . Mexicans and Central Americans in general now they are mostly "Mestizo " .... we need to be careful when we get into racial / ethnic discussions . I recently read a post on the Los Angeles forum where a poster was complaining that "whites " were leaving LA in droves and he also claimed that only WASP'S ( White Anglo Saxon Protestants ) were white ... I almost busted a rib laughing , as by the twisted logic an American of Italian heritage or an American of French heritage or even an Irish Catholic for that matter are not "white " in his eyes .....

Some of the stupidity and ignorance on this forum is mind boggling !!!

In my neighborhood, most of the Hispanics (generally representing almost all of the Latin countries in my neighborhood) have been of Mestizo descent (meaning mixed native american/white, as are most Broward Hispanics), although yes, it is true that many of the South Americans in Weston are of various Caucasian descent. Most Colombians I have met have been mestizos.

You know what, your right, we do need to be careful, let's end this, it really doesn't matter and one of the aspects of living here that I like so much compared to living in, say, Long Island, is that race/ethnicity/nationality isn't of major importance in where you live, who you associate with, blah blah. It just doesn't matter. I never even really looked at "race" here until I started reading these forums. We should just end this from here.

Good suggestion and as you are one of the people I most respect on this forum , let's go along with your solid advice . I may take another term in exile from this forum as I was just called a "fool " by another poster on another thread because I think the "gangstas" posing in some of the picture threads looked like idiots and are a disgrace to Miami ..... I am outta here for a few months at least as this has really ceased to be fun or informative in any way .

My first thought on reading the question is that IF you have to ask that question, maybe Florida isn't the right place for you given how many different nationalities of people I have met here. FOR ME, thats one of the things I love about the place.
