I believe many other Florida cities have a higher per capita crime rate than NYC, Orlando is one that I know was recently listed among the 20 highest crime rates cities. In fact over 100 cities ( circa 2006) had higher per capita crime rates than NYC.

Miami always seems to excel at being the "worst" at pretty much everything. This city seems to be on every "top 5 worst" list these days. I believe the only "top 5 best" list it found itself on was a list of cleanest cities, but much of that is due to the fact that there's no manufacturing here and the air quality is constantly good because of the maritime location.
