I grew up with freestyle music since Miami's Hot 105 debut back in 1985. Anyone on here who grew in the 80's or early 90's remember freestyle, other classic like bass or house played on Power 96? Here are some samples. You people from NYC and SFLA come on let's here it. If you have any please post your memories. Don't be shy

Bring back memories?

I can remember when Power 96 was originally known as 96 X. And prior to that, there was a dance music station called "I 95" or something like that, in the early/mid 80s.

I never knew that the "walking on sunshine" song was that old.

I remember those stations and hated them. I liked WKAT and WMXJ better then. Also I hated 80's fashion and the "ME ism" it promoted. Now people I know made fun of their 80's look and I felt fine to look like I was in the early 60's.

I would kill to go back in time to the late 80's/mid-90's.

Rewind 1986: This was before Hot 105 (Bob Rosenberg and Phil Jones were legendary DJ's) went all R&B in 1988 while Power 96 was the new name. Phil Jones eventually went over to Power 96 while Bob Rosenberg did "Will 2 Power")

Yeah, I remember hearing Earl the Pearl on I-95. Depending on how old you are 24 years was a long time for me. Hard to believe I can still remember all this stuff.

Do you remember that Power 96 had a tv show that aired on weekday afternoons in the late 80s? I don't remember the name of the show. If I recall correctly, by the time the show went on the air (in 1987 I think) the station's name had already been changed from "96 X" to "Power 96". The female dj Bo Griffin was the host of the show, and it aired music videos for some of the songs that were played on the station. These are some of the videos that I remember seeing on that show in 1987:

Jody Watley - Looking For A New Love

Debbie Harry - In Love With Love (Debbie was one gorgeous woman!)
