The third world nagging comes from somewhere else, not just politics.

All politicians are corrupt at some level. That is why they spend big bucks to run for office.

Agree! Further, don't assume the Feds are the good guys here. They may be the crooks who need to get these guys out of the way cuz these local pols are fouling up the feds rackets. Or perhaps there's money to be looted in these towns and these guys are in the way. Happens all the time.

2nd worst case I ever saw was Mayor Buddy Cianci in Providence. This guy took Providence from a dump back to par and as soon as the Feds smelled the money - in they come with trumped up charges.

Worst case ever was Alex Doude - Mayor of MB. Boy oh boy. Back during the Mariel boatlift Alex fist fought hundreds of thugs on the streets (so did I) to clean up the mess. After we finally cleaned up SoBe and the got the message out that MB won't tolerate thugs - take that sheet back to the mainland - and the money started flowing in - ole Mayor Doude got pushed out on BS so the big money a$$****s with friends in DC could start speculating.

Then of course I could go on about every poor sorry pol in any northern Mexico town ...

Hey, I'll bet you guys didn't know Mayor Doude used to spar with Muhamad Ali at the 5th Street gym? So did Mickey Rourke.

Ha ha, could not happen to a better bunch of people, it also does not surprise me one bit. The words Sweetwater, Pizzi, Marono, lobbyist, and Becker and Poliakoff law firm are all synonymous with corruption and under the table deals. These people have gotten away with so much in the past that that obviously made them feel invincible, immune and above the law. I doubt it, but hopefully other corrupt people, especially politicians, will learn from this.

I agree. The evidence against them has to be overwhelming and concrete in order for the FBI to make the arrests.

Many politicians spend more to get a job in office than what that job actually pays.

Apparently judging from their last names?

Pizzi, 51, and Maroño, 41?

Italy, Brooklyn or maybe a nice city in Sicily?

Everyone from the President to the governor on down is corrupt. It is unfair to only concentrate on south Florida when shining light on it. A far better way is to cut off the supply of money that fuels corruption. That would involve legalizing drugs and ending the Fed, things that no corrupt politician can stand.

Amen!
They don't run for office because they care about the rest of us.
If they did.. we wouldn't be in the economic mess.
