Except in/near the big strip malls on US1, Miami Gardens Drive, and Ives Dairy, and of course on the beach, you won't find many CVSs and Walgreens in the northeast and north part of town. Same goes for Starbucks. I would like so see more local neighborhood "corner store" locations.

Yeah, their main business is drugs. The other stuff is what you shop for if you decide to wait for your prescription. I never go in to CVS or Walgreens except when I have a prescription or I need something after Publix has closed.

It is a corp model in order to google up market share of the population on high traffic areas. Publix does the same thing, therefore because one is close by you will be willing to pay triple the price for a product.

Case in point, I shop at Aldi's and save over 60 percent on groceries over Publix, Winn Dixie or Walmart. Because of this I travel a bit further for major shop days, but for a quick one item thing I missed I simply go to my area Publix. Of course while at Publix for that ONE item, there is always one more item I evidently pick up and the triple profit line is made for both items.

The smart folks are the ones that coupon and make limited trips to shop, but most of us are not that deciplined. That is why there is a CVS, Walgreen, PUblix around each corner.

Allen's is separated from the shopping center by a small alley so will stay for now, but how long it can survive is the question.

I like to support small businesses but when it comes to drug stores I go to a Walmart or Pubix. I do not support businesses that are corrupt and are involved in Medicare fraud. 99% of all small independent pharmacy's in Mami-Dade and involved in such acts.

Where I live there is a Publix, Winn Dixie, Target, CVS, and Walgreens within walking distance--all of which fill prescriptions. Walgreens is pretty busy despite having the worse parking situation among them all (lots of people waiting for others to leave to get a spot). You'd think people would just go to the other stores and avoid Walgreens, but I guess if you're just passing through you don't necessarily know what else there is.
