Does DMV take walk in appointment nowadays? Anyone knows which DMV in Dade has less people to go, shorter waiting time?

Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by walk in appointment. You can either walk in or you can make an appointment. My wife and I needed to get Florida drivers licenses and we made online appointments for the DMV office in the Mall of the Americas off of Flagler. We just went this past Tuesday at noon, although we made the appointment two weeks earlier. It was a breeze.

Although there was a long line for those who had just walked in, there was a separate line for those with appointments and we had just one person in front of us. After waiting about 2 minutes, we went up to the receptionist, showed her our IDs and other requisite documents, and then she gave us slips of paper with a number on it and told us to wait until we were called. After about 5 minutes, we were called up to another desk, took our vision tests and photos, and then we walked over to the cashier and paid our $48. We then waited about another 5 minutes to receive our licenses. All-in-all, the whole process took about 15-20 minutes. Best, most efficiently-run DMV office I've ever been to.

I made an appointment at the Florida City location and it was the same thing, in and out in about 20 min.

The one on ponce del Leon has always been a short wait time. What ever you do, don't go to the one in front of FIU the lines there are horrible.

Got mine at the government center that was a breeze and paid extra for the five year one.

Make an appointment, you'll save yourself the worries of long lines. I was in and outbin less than 30 minutes.

I went to the one in the Hammocks off of 147th avenue a couple of weeks ago without an appointment and was out within a half hour. I went around 2:30.

Last week, I did a walk-in at the DMV near the Miami zoo in the afternoon. I didn't have to wait in line, as there very few people there. The whole process took around 20 minutes.

If you have to take the written and/or driving tests, it could be much longer and it's better to make an appointment. For just transfering a license from another State, it's much easier. I had a good experience with the one on Ponce, changing over from my Utah license, and wife just getting an ID card. Made an appointment for her first US license, which requires the full testing procedure.
