You had me scratching my head for a second about the Park thing, but then I remembered, they do have that park over by the Publix and the Elementary school, just west of the Metro Rail.

Brickell is very South American cliquish so no, I don't think it would be a good area for a young family. Coral Gables or South Miami would be much better.

thats what i was told. my gf (non hispanic) just bought a place in Brickell. I mean shes always going outside Brickell and when shes there just stays in her condo. Barely goes out to Mary Brickell Village etc so she has no idea of the local scene. Im non-hispanic and want to interact with the local scene. I'm planning to buy a condo unit by Neo Vertika but if the area is South American cliquish idk

Interesting perspective. Although to be honest, I always hear my co-workers who live in Brickell meeting up and hanging out in Brickell.

I guess one advantage to downtown vs. Brickell is you can walk to Bayside and Bayfront Park, which there is no equivalent in Brickell. Metromover keeps getting more and more crowded, and they still don't have the common sense to run 2-car trains during peak hours and events, so it can be a hassle to get up there from Brickell. If you're not going to a bar or restaurant, you're probably going outside of Brickell, and you're probably driving there.

This will all change big time in the coming years when CitiCenter opens up, also the theater in downtown, and the development at FEC's property, and of course Miami World Center.

yea been between Brickell and The Madison Condo (next to the new site convention center) next to the World Center and the FEC Miami Station. Just too close to Overtown.

Hello all I will be moving to Miami later this month for work. I've only been to the city once before and liked the many gated apartment complexes surrounding the Doral area, but as I've read here I will try to stay away from that area if I can avoid it due to the flooding, traffic, landfill locations, etc. Brickell has caught my attention one because it was highly recommended to me by a friend who is a Miami native and because of its proximity to my employer downtown. I am a 28 y/o single male and from everything else I've read this area of town looks to have a good social scene for other younger professionals. Can anyone here specifically provide me the names of apartments in Brickell that they would recommend so that I can research? Price range is up to 1800ish 1 bedroom. I'm excited to make the move to Miami!

I think your best bet would be to get a realtor. You don't have to pay them, that is sorted out with the land lord. They can find you something, trust me. As for Brickell, I think you will like it. It is very up and coming.

Exactly. In that price range there are many many realtors who would help you out. I know a few good ones if you have a problem finding one. Private Message me if you wish.

1-We are in our early 40's. We like a mix of urban environments that also cater to families with kids. Meaning, we would like to own a home, and be walking distance (a few blocks) from grocery, high end shops, child friendly restaurants and also fine dining. Would you say this describes Brickell or at least parts of Brickell? We are not at all interested in bars, partying or nightlife.
We don't mind being around younger people, just so as long as there are plenty of people our age too.

In my opinion, this doesn't really sound like what your'e looking for. Brickell will have bars and restaurants, but there aren't really any high end shops or anything that will cater to children.

2-We have kids. Are there several other families in Brickell with kids or are we going to be one of the few people with kids? Are there good kid friendly things to do? Playgrounds? community center? etc...

I guess there might be kids around.. but ehh.... not many that I saw when I lived there. What kind of kid wants to grow up in a high rise?

3-Is the main language spoken English? I have no problem whatsoever with people who choose to speak Spanish, but my husband does not speak it and I don't want him being totally lost or excluded, or seen as "oh here comes the pain-in-the-behind "no speak Spanish" guy"

It doesn't matter where in Miami you are, the main language is Spanish.

4-My husband is Asian, very intelligent, well spoken, and yes, a bit nerdy--think silicon valley Asian geek Is this going to be a problem? Do people create these ethnic "cliques", and if you are not like them, they snob you?

In Miami, everyone is there. Unless your husband doesn't want to talk to anyone.. you won't have a problem making friends.

5-Could Coral Gables be a better option for us?

Coral Gables sounds better in my opinion.
