Default Are Miami Beaches Still Open For Swimming??

Or are they closed already??

they never close....unless the rip currents are too strong. People are always out sunabthing and swimming except on the handful of "cold" (60 degree high days) in the winter.

Err.. didnt I just answer this same thing for California?

Anyway, yeah they dont normally close. But as Chelito said, there are sometimes very strong rip currents in the 'winter' time, and someone who's inexperienced might want to be extra careful. There also a lot of Jellyfish around this time.

Tons of those little blue jellyfish on my beach this week! I got stung last year. Ouch!

Also, the water is too cold for locals now. It is swimable for everyone from May through October. The remaining months are for the hardy...

To give you an idea, the surf temp is around 80 in May, low 80s in June, mid 80s in July, upper 80s in August and September, low 80s in October...then 70s for November and December...upper 60s in January...back to near 70 in Feb...and upper 70s from late March through late April. So, you can swim based on your preference. Also, there can be days and nights in the 40s, so you wouldn't want to go swimming because of the cold air temperature, not the cold water temperature either. But once acagin, this is not the rule rather the exception.
