Looking for a decent furnished studio under $1400 a month south of 17th Street and east of Michigan.

I've already called one realtor, who sounded like he would be helpful at first, but hasn't bothered to return calls even after I drove out there twice hoping to meet up to look at a few places.

Calling numbers on "For Rent" signs only resulted in apartments that had already been rented and one very obvious scam.

99% of the listings on Zillow are outdated and already rented, or I don't get callbacks or responses to my messages.

Any advice? I'm seeking a second domicile on the beach and this has been highly frustrating! If anyone knows a good realtor to call, I'd be happy to be referred to them.

Yep...I'm kind-of-sort-of in the same boat. Zillow is useful to get an idea of the rent rates you expect to pay, but not really specific apartments. Try another realtor, perhaps one who works out of an office that specializes in rentals. Renter's Cafe on Washington Ave. is a possibility. It's nearly impossible to avoid dealing with a realtor nowadays.

My friend just successfully found what you are looking for - area, cost are the same (semi-furnished with parking). It took lots of calls to lots of realtors, and the flexibility to run off and see a place whenever the realtor called back. They don't seem to want to deal with anybody who doesn't want to move in "now."

You can check all the rentals on the MLS by going to Realtor.com and plugging in exactly what you're looking for. Then just contact the listing real estate agent and schedule an appointment to see it. For example, here's a furnished 1br rental at 7th & Collins for $1400:

720 Collins Ave Unit: 405, Miami Beach, FL 33139 - Home for Rent - realtor.com®

And here's one on 15th & Drexel:

1518 Drexel Ave. Unit: 1, Miami Beach, FL 33139 - Home for Rent - realtor.com®

I found several others by just doing a cursory preliminary search, but this gives you a general idea of what's available.

I have a furnished house ready to be rented but in Homestead toward the East in a nice condo. I'll leave it in $1.250 for you. Cable and internet included . well, it's only 20 miles to be along to South Beach... Lemme know if you don't find something....
