Default Miami/South Beach

Hi, we are traveling to the Miami/South Beach area at the end of this month, looking for ideas for things to do. No clubs or party places, have wife and baby. Looking for shopping and just alot of fun things to see. Thanks

Plenty of shopping/people watching on the beach. Go to Lincoln Rd and theres an outdoor mall with plenty of shops and things to see.

You can try Parrot Jungle, its in Key Biscayne and was recently renovated and supposed to be really nice, I've never been, but it looks nice. You can also try the Metro Zoo. Its down past Kendall. Also pretty nice.

Bayside (outdoor shopping/entertainment) is in Miami and is right on the water. Fairchild Tropical Gardens is a great botanical garden, Collins avenue and Lincoln Road mall have great shopping and lots to look at, Parrot Jungle, Miami Seaquarium and Miami Childrens Museum are other stops you might want to consider.

You need to spend a day at Everglades National Park, also while out there go to Miccosukkee (sp???) Indian Village where you can take an airboat ride through the Everglades.

Jungle Island (a.k.a Parott Jungle) is a nice place to spend a few hours. You should also maybe head down to Key Largo and spend a day at John Pennekamp Park. 1.5 hours from downtown Miami. They have a website so you can see all the things to do there.

Spend another day, in the morning at Viscaya. Have lunch in Coconut Grove then walk around afterwards. Then if you have time head over to Key Biscayne, at the very end is Bill Baggs State Park, usually ranked highly for their beautiful beach and lighthouse by Dr. Beach.

Other ideas, Fairchild Tropical Gardens, Metro Zoo and Monkey Jungle.

Spend a day on Miami Beach, go to the beach and walk around South Beach. Have lunch on Lincoln Road or Ocean Drive.

As for shopping there is a few places depending on your budget. At the top is Bal Harbour Shops with the top labels. Aventura Mall, Dadeland Mall are regular malls, but have lots of stores. The Falls mall down south is another option, its probably the prettiest mall in Miami. And the best outlet mall in South Florida is Sawgrass Mills Mall, a 45 minute ride from downtown Miami. You need to plan to spend at least 6 hours here as it is huge.

Don't take the baby on an air boat ride they are extremely loud. Key Biscayne is so beautiful...be sure to see the lighthouse.

Parrot Jungle is NOT on Key Biscayne... It's located on Watson Island en route to Miami Beach...

It's also real pricey, like $35 per person...

NOt worth it..

It's OK.. Not worth the money... One place that is cool is Coral Castle down in Homestead... Not alot of people mention it...

Go have lunch at El Toro Taco on Krome in Homestead... Best Authentic Mexican food in Miami...
