Mia-me is a dump! Stay in America, you will regret moving there. Maybe not at first but in time it gets under your skin. Dont fall for the lies and the slick images you see on tv. Its a swamp full of disgusting, ego driven, trashy, uneducated people. Your money means nothing and you will be miserable. To each his own and to some its paradise and I say to those, you can keep your "paradise".

I guess in Liberty City they even let the traffic lights flash yellow so you don't have to stop (to prevent carjacking). Is it like that all over Miami? What is the real scoop?

The actual City of Miami is a relatively small area and yes it has many nasty areas witha "third world " feel , yet other of areas of Greater Miami Dade are quite nice . Liberty City is not somewhere you would ever need to go .. trust me . It would be like going to Los Angeles ( my home town ) and hanging out in Santa Ana , Compton or Inglewood !!!

You really shouldn't put Hialeah and Carol City in the same category, I live in Hialeah and certianly dont hate life.

granted, that when you get to the airport unless you know about the nicer places you don't really see them on the way to south beach. what you see is are the old neighborhoods that are run down and need attention badly. these are the bad areas. go to places like coral gables, the falls area, dadeland area. miami is a beautiful city. unfortunately if are not from here and come to visit you may never find some hidden gems in the county.

for those who comment negatively about downtown miami, remember that the metro area is the same as in most large us cities. crime can be anywhere. You have to be aware of your surroundings anywhere you go.

i have read many negative comments from people who don't live here. please keep the intelligent and knowledgeable comments about miami to come from miami natives. if you come here one and something happens to you, although terrible, that is not the only thing that happens here.

this is a great place. many people come here and treat locals with disrespect. if you come here and you treat people as you would like to be treated, you shhould have a very pleasant experience.

Only few, small parts of Miami are dangerous, like any city. I've lived here all my life and never seen anyone with a gun, never seen a violent crime, never heard of anyone getting robbed, etc.

Now, all you people love to talk smack about why you hate Miami or hate FL and be wildly emotional and subjective about why you hate it.
Here are some actual FACTS- black and white objective FACTS- about why Miami is not a good place to live any time soon.

1- It is FIRST in any city in the U.S. in its amount of foreign-born population (59%)
2) It is the SECOND-most dangerous metropolitan area in the nation for crime
3) It is the THIRD-most-poor city in the U.S. (behind only Detroit and El Paso)
4) Almost FORTY percent of the poor are below age 18 and 29 percent above the age of 65
5) 66 percent Hispanic or Spanish speaking- yup, I'd say you're in a foreign land right there.
6) SIXTH-largest metropolitan area in U.S. and very dense- CROWDED!!
7) a majority of "non-families" live in the city- read: middle-class families with kids have been driven out
8)- EIGHTH in the nation for amount of foreclosures
9) The city ranks SECOND-TO-LAST in people over 18 with a high school diploma, with 47% of the population not having that degree.
10) The city is only TEN PERCENT non-Hispanic white
11) Nearly 75 percent of Miamians speak first languages other than English at home
12) Miami ranks twelfth among least affordable cities for home ownership.

And you people want to MOVE THERE?? You see Miami as a place of opportunity? It's not- get real. The facts are right there. Cleaning up Miami would be as gargantuan a labor as cleaning out the Aegean Stables.

2. It's actually number 11 most dangerous, and that's Miami-Dade County individually. If you were implying that as a whole figure for South FL, Broward (Ft. Lauderdale/Pompano Beach) ranks 129th and Palm Beach ranks 64th (West Palm/Boca Raton).

The rest seemed to be accurate.

I stand corrected; it is 14th for Miami Dade and #7 for West Palm Beach-

Either way, Miami is not the happy-happy, snappy-snappy place it is made out to be.. I suspect that most Americans' knowledge of Miami comes from watching TV shows like the Golden Girls.
