Manatees closed down the Marine Stadium. They make there home around there and local activists won out. Later it was condemned. It was a great place for concerts and Unlimited Hydroplane races. I even remember a Nixon rally there because he use to hang out at the Key Biscayne Hotel and listen to my stepfather's band. The Sepentarium was a place to go on field trips. I remember Dadeland as an outdoor mall. Goldstein's Pizza across from the UM had the best Pizza at 12:30 am friday nights when you were watching the Midnight Special and one very stoned delivery guy would be at your door to deliver it to you. The Orange Bowl was a very special place back then but not as much as the Grove was because there you could see how the pizza delivery guys got that way! 8^)

That was the Pavilion On The Lake, a very interesting phenomena that seemed to be able to draw people in only for the nightclub activity and the food court! I always found that whole concept interesting, combining an outdoor strip mall with a traditional indoor "mini-mall", all on the same property.

I can't imagine why that space wouldn't work as a concert venue -- it would be awesome under the stars with the water behind it. Sort of like a Miami version of Red Rocks in Denver.
Seems like some other's have the same idea:

Absolutely! My dad took me and my younger brother there a few times when we were young. They had a great mouse roller coaster, one of those weird houses where balls appeared to roll up hill, a great log flume ride, and a steeple chase that felt so fast.
It was always a blast.

Yea, I hung out at DPizza when I was going to Ponce de Leon Jr High. Those were the best garlic rolls ever. And they had something called a pizza burger that was freaking great.

There was a movie theater on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. It was a great old theater with a balcony, red velvet curtains, and a sort of art deco feel. I can't remember the name.
That's where I waited in line to see Jaws.
Its where I first made out with a girl. Her name was Kristen and we were watching some Goldie Hawn movie...Sugarland Express!
My brother took me to my fist horror movie there. The Abominal Dr Phibes. I couldn't sleep face up for years after that movie!

It is -- just not a movie theater anymore.
It's a live theatre (said with exaggerated British accent lol).
