Sweden House was in fashion some 35 years ago, I remember that I went once but not much to do with Swedish food. I guess a real Swedish restaurant would be too expensive.

Ferrari's Pizzaria on Galloway Drive and Bird Road. Pollo Tropical now on the same SW corner.
Arbetters and Frankie's Pizza are still there just a few yards down Bird.

WOW! Growing up in Kendale Lakes, living in El Conquistador right next to mall (even before mall was built), going skating, starting at KL ELementary 1st year it opened, going to McMillan and Sunset Sr., you've brought back so many places I haven't thought about in years. Hanging out at the mall, the Carvery, Sentinel Drugs, the movie theater, the arcade across the street from KL Skating Center (and then Mark Twains)...Thanks for a great stroll down memory lane!

I remember that and when it was "pizza palace". One idea I have is to go to the property assessor's office and download the property info for some of these places to see what pictures they have inside and out. Other than Frankies, none of those old businesses survive to this day. You used to be able to drive down Bird Road and see the neon signs and mid-century suburban retail everywhere. Even remember the old Mc Donalds and the Royal Castles! Lately I have been wondering if it is possible to re-create the same environment in a smaller town. I have always wondered why those of us who like the past, and have been harassed by big government do not just pack up and move to a small Florida town. We could take our businesses with us and encourage our employees to move. After all, dystopian experiments like "celebration" exist, and this would be even better.
I see towns like South Bay, Moore Haven and the like could be replaced by people disenfranchised by the Miami-Palm Beach area who would take over the commission, sherriff's department and all government services. Build restaurants, amusement, manufacturing, biofuels and tourism and bring back that great 50's feeling. You could attract the masses from the coasts and if they get out of line there's always the pokey. Imagine the revenue from all the bad drivers...LOL! But in a county where YOU control code enforcement and property taxes imagine how much better life could be! You would not be complaining about what was lost, but complimenting what we just built!

Do they still have that copy-cat, stone, gateway arch replica in Miami Gardens? It wasn't that big, but you could see it from 95.
