Some says positive thinking is the path to contented living and good vibes. So, in view of the fact that I cannot sell my house; starting today I will adopt a positive attitude about my city and the reasons for me staying.

1. (And most influential reason).... Financial. The real state contract did not go through, and since there is no sell, I can't afford to go back to Las Cruces. *by the way in the New Mexico Forum people are saying we here in Florida stole theirs "Sunshine State* slogan, and they want it back.

2. My whole family lives either here, or in central and north Florida.

3. I know the metropolitan area like the palm of my hand

4. Miami has a Center for the arts which I heard is one of the best in the nation, and this year they will have a fair Opera season.

5. There is the Golden Passport for people over 65 and if in the distant future, my home does not sell and I have to grow older here, and unable to drive, having a Golden Passport will come in handy and I will be able to ride the busses for free.

6. Willy Chirino and Humana. I guess this means that if I'm here 10 years from now, I’ll have no copayments and no referrals for specialists in the greater Miami area.

7. Monday Specials at Sergio’s. Rice, black beans, oax tails, and tostones. Love them. Miccosukee Indian Bingo. I love it. Bayside weekend afternoon concerts, I love them. Good Libraries, good Gyms, the beach, being able to wear shorts, t-shirts and flip flaps in my neighborhood stores and not having people staring at me.... There are more, but because of the Cabala, posting Seven brings good luck.

Happy New Years!

Just to prove that I don't completely hate this city:

28. Plenty of restaurants (loads of variety)
29. Extremely clean air for a large urban area
30. Beautiful beaches, warm/clear ocean
31. Metro Zoo (one of the best zoos in the country, IMO)
32. Decent community colleges (MDC is one of the best in the country)
33. Cuban cuisine (especially Cuban coffee)
34. Caribbean cruises, on your doorstep
35. MIA is a major airport/international flight hub - easy to escape!
36. Miami Springs - old fashioned, friendly and how the rest of Miami should be!
37. Proximity to the Everglades - the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States

This is our home and we should not hate it. If when we step out of our doors everyday, each of us carry with him, or her, a bit of understanding, a bit of patience, and a bit of neighborly love, and common courtesy, such goodwill can rub on someone else, and things will undoubtely improved in our beautiful, versatile, and international wanna-be a big city Miami.

Actually, Cuban Coffee is good, but I much prefer cortadito ...

I would have put Venezuelan women in the first spot and Colombian women in the third spot , Cuban women in the fourth spot and eliminated Puerto Rican women from the list ( sorry ) I travel there a lot and I just do not see many good looking women there .... I do not know where they get those beauty queens from .... I am also traumatized dating back to a Puerto Rican pride day parade I attended in New York with a friend of mine who is Puerto Rican in 2003

Fat women in spandex , tacky gold jewelry and belly shirts that say "Boricua 100% " do not make for an attractive look ... I think they call them "chongas " in Miami

I like the Island and many people are nice there , but I just do not see it in the women ... no comparison to the Brazilians , Colombians , Venezuelans or even Cuban women !!!
