Anyone know what the situation is like for those areas (street, cost, proximity to beach, etc)? The parking for South Beach is pretty bad, I'm wondering if it's any better for these beaches (would be nice because they are so much closer to me as well).

South Beach i park at 16th Street $1/hr. North Beach 73rd to 75th street Ocean Terrace. $1/hr and you park right next to the beach. I dont know any parking garages in the area Surfside esp Bal Harbour are notorious for parking. North Beach parking is much better

There is a lot behind the Flannigans where you are about two blocks from the beach. A few small lots right by the beach too but usually full. There are no large private garages. The Miami Beach city lots are pretty might the cheapest city lots in south Florida. $1 an hour.

Miami Beach parking north of 26th is free after 6 PM. Ocean Terrace is particularly convenient to the beach, as are numerous lots along mid beach/millionaire's row. Hint: the last parking lot in Surfside beside the Howard Johnson is actually a Miami Beach lot, and is free after 6 pm and rarely full, so you can get there around 3 or 4, pay the meter, and not have to feed it again for the evening.

People don't realize that we actually have "too much" parking in Miami Beach, in the sense of having the lowest hourly rates and most extensive free evening parking in South Florida. But if you're coming over from the mainland during a sunny weekend mid-day and the first garage you encounter near the beach (7th and Collins) is full, I can see your frustration. A light rail station at 7th and Collins would likely have several times the weekend ridership as there are spots in that garage...during events like Memorial Weekend, Ultra, and Halloween, it's obvious how convenient such a connection would be.
