Hi All-

We will be moving to Miami in June 2015. Office will be located in Coral Gables and Aventura. So we would ideally like to live somewhere where the commute to work would be 45 minutes or less to both locations. WE are a young family with newborn and a 2 year old. Good pre-schools, and school district will be important for us. Low crime rate, and a family friendly lifestyle. We plan to rent initially for around $2500 for a 3 bedroom if possible. Eventually (by next year) we will be working in Aventura only. Can you recommend the best locations that avoids a terribly long commute?

Mid-beach around 71st street, if you like being close to water. 30 min. to Aventura, 35-40 min. to coral gables.

I agree with the poster who suggested Mid Beach, although I would recommend the Nautilus section rather than around 71st (which is actually North Beach).

I agree Mid Beach is probably the best suggestion.

We live in Aventura and plan to move when our kids are school age. It's family-friendly enough for now. My husband's co-workers with kids mostly live in Miami Shores but they all attend private schools, so I'm not sure how the public schools are there.

Just out of curiosity, did both of you happen to find jobs in Miami at the same time? And you're both starting around the same time as well? Good timing, good for you.

Miami Shores does sound like one of the most logical areas for you, maybe also upper east side or even north bay village.
