Default Should Miami forum be shut down?

Miami
Point- Miami is a city of rose petals with the splendid luxury of Milan and glamor of Los Angeles. It's the utmost in cosmopolitan sophistication where class meets with fun. Catch you later outside my guarded gate.

Counterpoint- MiaMEMEMEMEMEMEMEME. Third world supeficial ghetto, too many Hispanics, nothing would be wrong with it if it weren't for Hispanics, none of them can speak any English. Third world ghetto drivers, superficial people who all live in duplex apartments, the weather is terrible and disgusting, the traffic never, ever moves, not even on neighborhood streets, and I have had my home burglarized 12 times.

Fort Lauderdale
Point- (I seem to be the only one making points, the rest is entirely counterpoint) It's a crowded, socially diverse metro of 1.8 million where a reasonably open minded person can meet like minded individuals. But please come with a job rounded up, have a car, and make sure you can handle the heat.

Counterpoint- Cesspool CRIME CRIME RUDE PEOPLE CRIME CRME MOVING TO CHARRLOTE TOMMORW CRIME CRIME CRIME too many HISPANIC even tho I'm majority and BLACK are in second place!!!! RUDE PEOPLE CRIME CRIME!!!! ANGRY RUDE CRIME!!!!!

So, anyone else think the Miami forum should be shut down? Like a failing school, I think the best thing to do is shut it down and distribute the remnants into a more balanced environment. Like Miami itself, this place is a mess. I think a lot of our Palm Beach County and Broward County people also deserve their own forum, many who seem to be fairly reasonable. The former county still gets a lot of newcomer threads.

Some posters, however, hate objectively. There is nothing wrong with "negative" posts with the right tone from posters like wild style, tallrick, doggiebus, chileto etc. It's the execution and exaggeration.

Oh, and explain your reasoning.

I think this forum should be shut down as it is all about negativity,I have been on other Forums that have a positive connotation to the city of Miami, while at the same time they don't see the city through rose-colored glasses.

There are some negatives about this city no doubt about it,but there are a lot more positives to state about this great city. There are too many biases and feign discrimination on this Forum as well as undeserved and unwarranted bashing. I am not from Miami ,but have visted quite a few times and am always impressed with both sides of Biscayne Bay with the amount of progress and growth.

Reading most of the quotes on this Forum makes my stomach churn,so shut it down and let the other cities like Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach have their own Forum.I love Miami and South Florida as a whole ,but tired of reading all of this negativity.

I voted "no" because as long as the opinions are backed up with truth or experience, they provide valuable insight into the area. Something else to consider is that Miami cannot be going downhill forever, sooner or later it will reach bottom. Shutting down the Miami forum would just be affirming the Miami haters as being correct. Although south Florida is mostly bad, I hope that someday, if the real estate bubble bursts, Miami will start to improve again.

I voted "no" for two reasons:

1. Sift through some of the craziness and you'll find a lot of good, solid nuggets of information that, at the very least, might give you incentive to dig deeper if you're thinking of moving to the area. I'm with Tallrick on this one.

2. Amazing as it might seem, I think the quality of discourse on Miami/South Florida actually is a bit better than it was a year or so ago. It seemed back then that there were individuals (most of whom have departed) who either posted dozens of repetitive screeds every day or went out of their way to insult, attack and antagonize. The intensity now is a wee bit lower -- it's gone from Category 5 to Category 4.

If you want the forum to change, start with yourself. This thread brings nothing positive to the discussion.
