Hello,

Just a quick question. Why do the houses/apartments in what is known as Country Club have addresses with "Hialeah, 33015" ?

I know that Country Club is a census-designated place, not an actual incorporated city, so why the attachment with the city of Hialeah? In my opinion it is even more confusing since Country Club is not contiguous with Hialeah, there is the whole town of Miami Lakes in between them!

Thanks.

It has to do with the US Postal Service and its assignment of zip codes. Zip codes 33010 through 33018 are Hialeah zip codes. This is regardless of whether or not the area actually falls within the limits of the city of Hialeah. It's the same way the postal service considers 33176 (Kendall) to be Miami, even though it lies very well outside the city of Miami's limits. My brother used to live in zip code 33025 (Miramar), and it would come up as Hollywood.

I grew up in 33015 many years ago.

Country Club is part of Hialeah.

Count your blessings. It could have easily been designated Opa-Locka or Miami Gardens.

USPS laughs at political boundaries.

(at least as far as cities, they generally won't overlap state lines or even counties). They will overlap prefixes (example 334 covers northern Broward and southern Palm Beach counties, but the individual zip codes correspond to the correct city).

Really no need for that comment.

Why do people worry what is stamped on their mail? It's where the Postal facility is so even though I lived in Princeton my mail said "Homestead"! I think the people who would be most upset are people from "Coral Gables" and having their mail stamped as "West Miami"!
