My God , haven't we beaten this topic to death on many previous posts ?

I live in Boca and work in Broward ( Coral Springs ) and everyone that I know speaks English and most people that I meet are friendly .... maybe we should have seperate Miami - Dade and Broward Palm Beach forums ?

Yeah, but some people either don't read the other posts or need to push an agenda or something. God only knows. Personally, it all seems like sour grapes to me.

I'm white non-hispanic, and have had very little problem in Miami with rudeness. Maybe because I treat people with respect. Or maybe because I'm such a sexy papi. I think attitude plays a big role.

People are underpaid, and frustrated. It is no wonder that they are rude. You will find that people in more affluent areas are more content. Trouble is, in Miami poverty and wealth are mixed closeby.

You know thats pretty much exactly what it does seem like. The same people will make an effort if they are out of their comfort zone (here, and some pockets elsewhere), when they go someone else. My friends family all evacuated to NC 10 months ago. Abuela, who never had to speak english here (30 years), now speaks some english. They came back over the holidays, called this place a dump, thrilled they left, etc. I expected all that, but this old lady learning english somewhat, never. If i moved to Mexico, I wouldn't expect them all to learn english for me!

I am white non - Hispanic myself although I do not live in Miami , I do get down there mostly on weekends and yes there are some a-holes like anywhere else , but I do not find the people overall to be more unfriendly than anywhere else in fact I have met many Hispanics who were super friendly .... you cannot paint everyone with a single brush stroke ... what I do not like about Miami is the hip hop ghetto factor permeating within mainly young Hispanic males ... yes they are a minority , but they are nasty and in your face .... now Hispanic women over 21 especially Colombians , Venezuelans and Brazilians send them up here to Boca !!!

I've finally figured it out, Miami people aren't mean, some people are just hypersensitive to what other people are doing or saying and others are not. Personally, I don't waste a millisecond worrying about whether someone is nice to me or not, or says please or thank you. Its just not that important to me. Add that to the fact that I have lived in several much less friendly locations than Miami.

Pretty much all of the Miami people I've met have been nice and at worst indifferent (which is fine with me too).

At least we know that the words mentioned mean friendliness. That's the opposite of the rude stereotype isn't it?

I don't know if it is non Hispanic versus Hispanic thing or not. Fort Lauderdale the probably are not the nicest either. They are not as bad as Dade county but, they can hold their own.
