Bingo! And then add to that all the people from the hustle and bustle of NYC and Newark, and you have Miami...

One of the SUVs involved in the wreck had a mother and her two small kids in car seats. Her SUV flipped and as she was trying to get her kids (which are strapped in their car seats upside down) someone walks up to her car and takes the mothers purse. So this family is involved in a crash, SUV probably totaled, and she gets robbed. The thief doesn't come over to help the mother, but to rob her. And this was in the better area of Miami. Great people we have here.

yup, that happened here in Orlando area too. A man had a heart attack or something, passed out at the wheel, and drove off the street or something, and ppl robbed him.

Many posters feel that Miami is rude above and beyond the ordinary big city rudeness. I don't know if it has something to do with so many people not actually having roots here, aspiring to be models, the area attracting a young and beutiful type (but superficial at the same time)...or if is more to do with first generation children of immigrants not identifying with their parents values nor the American mainstream values yet. Maybe it isa combination of all of this.
Many people that live here echo the same sentiment offline. I can't imagine how anyone could argue this sincerely, surely you have to realize how obnoxious people are here compared to other places. If it were like this everywhere, people wouldn't make such a big stink about it specifically here. I find it funny that you donīt even acknowledge that it is so dysfunctional. I am a normal person, not negative or recist in the least, but I won't deny how people are here. I hve traveled so I know it is NOT this way everywhere. There are rude, uneducated people everywhere, but we tend to attract more per capita. Even msiery loves the sun, right?
People are generally more humane and friendlier anywhere else, in Latin America, other large US cities...and of course small towns. Miami just seems to bring out the worst in people. Be dammned I can explain it completely. The one post I read though that came the closest was something like, "people like it here because this is the only place they can act this way and get away with it". That is soooo true. I am in shock because you genuinely seem to believe your posts about all of the country being like this....

I'm not saying your posts are a lie, but lets look at it this way. If your in NY, you don't live in the Bronx. If your looking to move to DC, you don't move to Prince Georges County. You don't move to LA County. If you are looking to move to Atlanta, with notable exceptions you stay out of Fulton County and you stay out of Clayton or Dekalb County. If you are in South Florida, you stay out of most of Dade County to stay away from the crap. Most of those other areas I named have nice parts like Dade has nice parts, but they all have their overbearing social problems that might be different than the ones we experience here, but are social problems nonetheless. It just seems like this is the only forum that has such an exaggerated view on their problems, and anyone who doesn't pound them and push them for days upon days is a stupid realtor or wearing rose colored glasses.

Well I guess Compelled, although I do live in Dade...but I suppose if I lived in Weston or coastal communites I might see things differently too.
I didn't see the thing about the lady getting robbed after her car accident, BUT I do remember a while back when a biker fell off the Rickenbacker Causway going to Key Biscayne and someone driving pulled over and stole his bike after he had fallen into the water. Nice!

Welcome to the big city. If you are going to dwell on one issue and make another obscene generalized statement like "great people here", you have probably been living here too long. I have seen you want to move to "Manhatten" (Manhattan). Yeah, move to Manhattan to escape that, LOL!
Wherever you have a large community of people, you have a group of disgusting animals that ruins it for some other people. This is not mutually exclusive to Miami. Is it messed up? Yeah! But I guess I'm just desensitized, when I get to Charlotte I'll realize what I have been missing out on when I watch the news there .

You have confused my posts some how. I never said I wanted to live in Manhatten. I did say that my sister lives in Manhatten. Two different things.
The unfortunate part is that I can generalize and say "great people here" because we have so many people amongst us that are like that thief, which is really sad. And to be in denial that we don't...wow...don't know what to say! Look as you know there are some good things about Miami-Dade that I do like, but they are out weighed by the bad.

Once again, Weston and the coastal communities aren't the only places that are an upgrade from "general Dade". How about (lets go from north to south), Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens, North Palm Beach, unincorporated West Palm Beach, Wellington, Royal Palm Beach, west Boynton Beach, western sections of Delray Beach, Boca Raton, Coconut Creek, Margate, Parkland, Coral Springs, Tamarac, North Lauderdale, Sunrise, Plantation, parts of Fort Lauderdale, Davie, Cooper City, Pembroke Pines, the sections of Miramar further from the Miami Gardens Line and Miami Lakes. These communities range from upper income (Parkland) to upper middle class (Boca) to middle class (Coconut Creek, Davie) to even working class (Sunrise, North Lauderdale). God, it's all a third world country!
So in Broward, Lauderhill, parts of Deerfield, Dania Beach, parts of Hallandle Beach, parts of Hollywood, east Miramar, east Davie, parts of Fort Lauderdale, Lauderhill and Lauderdale Lakes are no good. In Palm Beach County, Delray, Boynton, Lake Worth, Riviera Beach, and West Palm Beach are no good, assuming you are west of U.S.1. These are all confined between U.S.1 and Millitary Trail in PBC's case and between Dixie and University Dr. in Broward's case (in which good areas are mixed in).
At least we have a dividing line. We could be like Orlando or Atlanta where the crappy neighborhoods are splattered all over the place with no real dividing line.
Yes, I know I have a lot of "parts" listed there, but South Florida had an odd, narrow and long layout. West of Millitary Trail in PBC or west of the Turnpike/University Dr in Broward would be representative of "our" suburbs.

Didn't I just say that wherever you have homosapiens, you have bad homosapiens? That's not denial...
Wow, I didn't intend to start a flame war, I'm very surprised at some of the rude responses here. I thought you guys were all really friendly and despised the rude people.
