Salt water would rust it out over a period of time besides it looks hideous for the beach

It would also have to be about 50 stories tall to accommodate all that want to park on South Beach.

Not South Beach, but close. You just need to pay $5M+

Yeah, and you'd need one every block because people are too lazy to walk from a centralized structure.

How about a Metrorail extension instead. Tell the Taxi corporations to shut up and sit in a corner and build away. Yet nobody seems to like my idea of a commuter rail system from Homestead to Broward.

I most certainly do! As does Commissioner Bovo. It can be done for much less than the Metrorail extension to the airport and a fraction of the cost of: Marlin's Park, the Port tunnel, the express lanes, the downtown Miami Signature Expressway Bridge To Nowhere (TM).

And if Mayor Gimenez doesn't come out and endorse this plan, I say vote him out!

The resistance to county wide rail makes no sense to me. The Seaboard tracks to Homestead sit abandoned, and the rights of way from the airport to Dadeland remain vacant. The Busway is a complete failure and needs to be removed. Metrorail should be extended to Perrine, and rail should be along or over every one of the expresways. FPL transmission lines and major canals provide space for light rail. You should be able to use a local bus to connect to a station within a few minutes, and then have all transportation hubs, (airport, seaport, Tri-Rail, park and ride lots) and access to all major tourist areas (downtown, Miami Beach, Metrozoo/rail museum, Key Biscayne, ) and of course all colleges/universities. Anything else is stupid. There should be a ban on all widening of existing expressways, although I doubt they have much room to expand anyway. My ultimate goal would be a statewide rail system that makes every Florida attraction within a few hours travel time. In fact I would like to see major expressways narrowed to no more than three lanes in any direction.
