Hi, I am visiting my brother, who's studying at the University of Miami at Coral Gables. I have booked a room in Coconut Grove, and I would like to know which places I should not step my foot in.

Coral Gables is very safe overall. Coconut Grove is mostly safe, but borders a really bad area. Stay away from everything east of US-1 and west of SW 32nd Ave. There shouldn't be any reason you'd want to be there anyway! Stick to the Gables and the Cocowalk area and you'll be fine!

yeah...don't veer off the beaten path. To get to coconut grove from U.S.1 you will need to go through a ghetto...that is if you enter off grand ave. Best bet would be to take sunset to cocoplum circle....and make your second right off the circle...you will go over a little bridge. Then just stay to the right immediately and follow the road and it will dump you right into the heart of the grove.

Little Havana is relatively harmless. I've been through there at night many times and never felt threatened.

Ehhh...Little Havana is so-so. I wouldn't exactly call it safe, but it's not as bad as Liberty City. I'm not quite sure why you'd want to go to Little Havana...? Most of the tourists stick to South Beach, Coconut Grove, and Coral Gables...

Harmless, but frustrating. Bring your English-Spanish dictionary and lots of patience.

i would tell you to stay away from overtown, liberty city, and little haiti. having lived in ny- i can honestly tell you that other places are mild at best. Anywhere between us-1 and 27th av is pretty much "bad" all the way up to ft. lauderdale.
