Haha I'm not sure how much money they can actually make off of this. Let's say they sell 3-4 spots, that's only 60-80$, but everything seems like a lot of money to poor people.

When I think of Miami I still kind of associate it with this type of music. Not to mention Miami bass. I'm sure I still got a few old cassette tapes around with that type of music.

Miami's Calle Ocho was in the Guinness World Book of Records for having the longest Conga line of close to 120,000 people. I'll see if I can find it online.

Reviving the thread.
Cultural Fridays, the last Friday of the month, was good.
First, all street parking is free, cruise a little and likely You may find a parking spot.
Máximo Gómez Park has a DJ, more live performers across the street. Several other joints with DJs indoors. Seems OK to walk around with your beverage in a plastic cup.
And no, it wasn't overridden by migrants of a specific ethnicity, I heard German, French. Russian? And everyone was greeted in English first.

Totally agree. The monthly festival is actually quite fun.

Also, get there a bit early and take the free walking tour... Viernes Culturales – Cultural Fridays Arts & Culture Festival in LIttle Havana (Miami, FL) > Free Walking Tour

They would charge you to park on their lawns but they took care of your car!

Ah nostalgic Miami!

I was in the first, 1977 or so? Nothing out of the blue. During 1981 it was kind of cheo because Mariel. It seems that it has improved.

People have been renting lawns during ages at the Dolphins area. Also in the Grove.

After the cultural thing, the joints are good, refreshing, hydrating spots.
The prices for adult beverages are more favorable than, say, Ocean Drive.
And the establishments seem to be more stable than Ocean Drive, meaning they will be there in 3 months.
And I do not want to generalize but it feels more comfortable to use your credit card on Calle 8 than on the fly by night places on Ocean Drive.
