Trying to help a friend who was adopted. The birth certificate says Hialeah Hospital, but other paperwork says Jackson Memorial. She was definitely born in Miami, just trying to help her identify the hospital code to tell her it was one hospital, or the other.

She was born in December 1958. The code that identifies the hospital is 23-10. I found 23 is Dade County, and the facility code at the time was 10 but this is now listed as an eye hospital so I know the codes have probably changed for many facilities over the years. I can't find any info on what the 10 was from that year.

If anyone was born at Hialeah hospital has a copy of their BC from that year, or close to it, can you please post what the code is so we can figure out if she was indeed born at Hialeah Hospital??

Thanks!!!

No help. This was their response:

We have no way of telling you the code for Hialeah Hospital back in 1958. The coding books available begin in 1970 when computer files began.

Okay, seems no one born in Hialeah in 1958 must be on this board. Anyone born at Jackson Memorial around the year of 1958?? I got a reply that the code for Hialeah is not 10. So wondering if anyone born at Jackson back then can tell me what code is on their BC. It would start with 23-

Do you have any other information? Maybe there's something else we can help her find?

Thanks for the reply. She has some information, but being that she was adopted, the identifying information she has is very little. I did find someone born the same year at Hialeah Hospital and the code is 23-31, so we can cross that off the list. The other hospital that was mentioned was Jackson Memorial. If I can find someone with information of what the code was back then, that would help a little.

It could very well be that her birth mother didn't live in the Miami area and just came to have the baby. The birth mother was listed as 33, and the father as 35. Since my friend was born in 1958, that means her mother was born in 1925+/- I've been on Ancestry and have searched the web and haven't found anyone, or anything that would link her to anyone else.

I have the name they put as being one of the parents, though I would rather not list it publicly unless I got it ok by her first. It may not even be the real name as an alias could have been possibly used. Any information, any help, would be welcome.

I actually found my answer. I was able to Google and find a death certificate from someone who passed in 1958 at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the code is 23-10. Hopefully this info may help someone else in the future.

If it's out there, I can find it. It's hard if no one knew about the adoption on the birth family side and that's what my friend thinks. More than likely, with the age her birth parents would be, they are probably not alive any more. When I have time on my hands, will continue to help her search for answers.

I'm wondering if they lived in Hialeah/Miami Springs area - the father supposedly worked for the airlines as a purser.

Thanks for the shout out!

Born at Jackson memorial in 1959. Code 23-10 on my birth certificate. Lived in Miami Springs until 1990.
My parents were also born at Jackson and are alive and well, don't give up.
