HI, I'm Damien and the post I'm about to post I know have already been used a thousand times in the past.

I'm moving to Miami in August of this year and so excited.. OK Job: uma be working as a longshoreman on dodge island between Miami and Miami Beach!! Does anyone know where most longshoreman live

Communities: can anyone tell me what are the safe areas at in Dade county/or in broward county, I'm a African American man btw who's a Christian and never been in trouble before.. I want to live in a diverse neighborhood where there is no racism going on and where I can fit in at..

Things to do: im really not a fan of partying nor clubbing, but the bars are fine, is the city of Miami friendly for bike
Riders or 4 wheeler.. I also like to swim and a huge fan for the beach. What about golfing, movie theaters, basketball/football games, concerts etc...

Crime: I currently live in Memphis which is the nation most dangerous city around
Besides Detroit so I'm not really worry about it but still wants to live in a safe area where I can feel the need to walk at night.

I want to find a 1 bedroom close to where I'll be working in Downtown Miami between 700-800. Will I be able to find that
In Miami Beach or brickell??

Please guys if u have advice please share them! Thnx

You'd probably better locate the Miami forum and re-post there.

It's already been moved to the Miami forum for you. You don't need to do anything except wait for answers from folks who actually live in and/or know Miami.

Miami is a very expensive city... if you could find a place to rent for $700, you wouldn't want to live in it.

It might be good to reach out to the human resources offices of where you are going to work for some ideas. Frankly, a roomate is probably in order. $1400-1600 is a lot more reasonable, even for a 2 bedroom.

A friend of mine was longshoremen for man years till he passed away from cancer at a young age. They live allover Miami, no one particular area. My friend lived with his mom still in his late 30's till he passed. I don't know if that was for financial reasons or other reasons. Try looking on Miami Beach, you may be able to find a studio in an older building with street parking close to your budget.
