I find this interesting, that downtown Miami's demographics are being refreshed by younger and wealthier residents. It make since considering all of the hi paying jobs that recruiters are trying to fill in the area, making these units affordable.

Anyway here are two articles that also support my observations.

I might move over there, after my lease is up on the beach

I didn't know Miami was awash with high-paying jobs.

Depends on your industry. Considering my field, I'm only referring to technology related positions. I'm clueless about other sectors of the economy.

For a downtown area to have "88,000" people, it still feels very empty. I mean the actual downtown is much less as i wouldn't consider Wynwood, Edgewater or Midtown as part of what the DDA considers greater downtown.

I think Midtown/Edgewater offers some of the best urban living in Miami. Plenty to see and do, without being pretentious. One of my clients just moved there, and he's pretty happy.

Like sheep to the shearing. By the way, there is midtown Manhattan, Midtown is just a dumb name for a development north of Miami.

Many cities have "midtowns" & uptowns. Is Manhattan the only city who can claim those names?
