Hi,

Do any of you get any door knockers that come to your door selling something. Is there any license required to get that in Miami(the city, not county)?

Thanks!!!

There is a county ordinance against it. They are breaking the law. You can call the police. Now whether they will come or not I don't know. But you could remind the door knocker and tell them the police are on the way.

What does the county ordinance prevent against? Is there a license for it?

No, it's a Realtor offering their services.

As a realtor, and occasional door knocker, I believe there's no municipal ordinances banning the practice. Also, I know some of those bans in other places have been thrown out as a violation of freedom of speech.

Usually the only door knockers I would get would be either the kids who wear the ties and ride bikes. Or, some Spanish speaking people who carry umbrellas and briefcases. The later would be in our Kendall area ALL the time.

Other than that, if not after a natural disaster, like Andrew when roaches come out of the woodwork, it was rare to have people trying to sell something door-to-door.
