How about "Pompano"? Besides, if you speak Italian, a name like that sounds really bad...........

It's barely a town. I think it consists of 2 gas stations, a small hotel and then a tacky tourist trap that advertises discount tickets and hotels. Oh, and that advertisement starts about 100 miles away from the exit. Nothing else for 50 miles in any direction.

I stopped at the trap once for a cheap hotel reservation--did an unplanned trip to Universal. The employee said they once had a fender-bender right by there and it took FHP about an hour to get over there to fill out the report.

Yeah, it used to be. I grew up there.

I remember when my 3rd grade class was heading to Flamingo Gardens for a field trip and how all of my classmates were laughing at the horse crossing signs (basically a sign with a horse). Since I lived around it, I couldn't figure out what they thought was so funny.

I remember when the McDonalds on Griffin was built! And when it first opened it had a place to tie up your horse outside.

And yet, we have one of the wealthiest areas around. Makes no sense to me either.

People only think they do. It's not that wealthy, it's just for looks really.
Estimated median household income in 2005: $55,733 (it was $60,248 in 2000)
Boca Raton $55,733
Florida: $42,433

Estimated median household income in 2005: $55,125 (it was $47,014 in 2000)
Davie $55,125
Florida: $42,433

Can you believe that?????

Back on topic, yeah, Plantation...

It's because poor people like me moved there since then. And a big part of the reason why I'm looking to leave. I can't stand the land of the plastic people any longer.

Doesn't surprise me at all. There are some areas of Davie that are quite wealthy.

Yeah but you just don't get that feeling in Davie. There are some huge houses and upscale communities there but it doesn't feel uptight as a whole. It feels middle-class. You don't even get that Boca feeling in Weston or Wellington which have at least 20 thousand dollars higher median income. If you are a more down to earth type I don't blame you for wanting to leave Boca for someplace much farther away...

And abuot Plantation, I was thinking more along the lines of something else...it's baaaaaad.

That's all relative to reported income, most of Boca's residents that have the wealth don't work or are retired with huge nest eggs. That applies to many other areas as well.
