What do you think about me trading Miami for Houston?

I was wondering, since you are the Broward expert...and you mention that it is overall diverse...where are the different segregated areas in the county? Are you the member that does those great maps? Could you do a Broward map showing the Hispanic, Black and non-hispanic White areas? Or just share.

I know SW Broward is very Latin and Black...but I¡m not sure about the borders of these areas.

I don't even really need a map. The non-Hispanic white areas (over 60%) are Parkland, Cooper City, SW Ranches, a lot of Broward north of 595 and east of US1, and the west part of Davie. A case might be able to be made for Tamarac as well although it's at the borderline. The black dominated areas are W. Fort Lauderdale,pockets of Hallandale Beach, pockets of Dania, Lauderhill, and Lauderdale Lakes. There is no area in Broward where Hispanics make up a solid majority of the neighborhood to my knowledge, but the most heavily Hispanic city is Weston. There is a very small pocket of unincorporated Fort Lauderdale that might be an exception and seems to have a lot of illegal immigrants... The rest lacks a dominant ethnic group...

Most of SW Broward lacks a majority ethnic group and actually has an unusually large amount of Asians for Florida, exceptions being those places I named above. It's also a misconception that there are no white people in Pembroke Pines, but Pembroke Pines is near perfectly integrated and whites are STILL the largest group, but there is no solid majority. There are all different kinds of people in Pembroke Pines/Miramar to the point where nobody really notices or cares...

Well, ultimately it's up to you what you want to do, but if you decide Houston isn't for you I can recommend some areas that you might like better up this way. I probably wouldn't recommend the city of Ft. Lauderdale to you, which to me feels like being in a porn flick in parts, main difference is that it could be an interracial, transsexual threesome one (yeah I'm graphic I'm "compelled to reply"), but probably one of the suburban areas, or maybe even east Hollywood which is a pretty weird place but down to earth. Ft. Lauderdale proper is very love it or hate it and it doesn't sound like you would be in the love it crowd. It's a different sleaze from Miami though.

I think Im going to scratch broward off the list if they are s!utty up there as well. i'm trying to find a place i can meet someone and not feel 'compelled' to "do" it all in one night, if u know what i mean

This attitude has become so widespread and prevalent all around the country that it's disgusting. It's embedded in our culture as Americans. It's more about the right partner than the right city on this one...I mean unless you live smack dab on Miami or Ft. Lauderdale beach.

Yea the beach is nasty...thats where you catch stuff from. but it spreads into the neighborhoods all the way south to kendall and homestead up to god knows where. but i think there has to be towns that are atleast a bit less promiscuous for crying out loud, im tired of having to be promiscuous LOL
