Indeed, Miami is usually somewhere in the middle of most lists.

I've said it many times before, worth repeating many more times, there is nothing unique about Miami except warm temperatures all year round, plenty of water, on US soil, in a no state income tax state.

As for every other aspect of human life on this planet, it is somewhere in the middle, nothing special, nothing exceptional.

But there are hyperbolic haters, whiners and complainers that come out of the woodwork everywhere and, once again, Miami is no exception.

According to this list/map, Miami isn't even in the top 50.

That is exactly what one would expect, and on many other lists, maps, ranking, surveys, etc. over the past 10-15 years.

Exactly. People complaining about Miami have no clue what these other cities cost. Especially the Moscow and Hong Kong and Western Europe cities.
Even Boston is outrageous in cost of living.

Job market down there seems tough outside of hospitality/tourism and real estate but otherwise I'd say the opposite, that Miami is actually criminally underrated.

I think my guest whom I just showed around town for 5 days last week would agree with you. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if he is having his attorney draft divorce papers as I am typing.

I chuckled when he wrote that Moscow was less expensive than Miami.

First of all..Baltimore? really? Place is a dump, sorry.
Yes its more expensive than all those cities, but we're talking about it being compared with the other top -rated cities.

And I would imagine that Chicago proper is probably more expensive than Miami and Philly sure ain't cheap either. Rent/Purchase prices all around the city are more expensive price/sq ft, insurance isn't cheap, food & beverage isn't cheap and even a lot of the nice suburbs are just as expensive, if not more.

From earlier post I made on this thread:

"...I love Miami...
PS: I went to Junior High in Miami. I do know what I'm talking about. When the Mariel boatlift happened, the influx of Cubans distressed many Americans. I agree. It took me a couple of years to adjust, but I found their culture to be similar to my own in many ways, and embraced them. It has made Miami more alive to have their presence.

PS: Don't forget the food. Cuban cooking is out of this world good "

I'm Italian-American. Our cultures are similar. And another thing Jack...smiles/attitudes are universal
