I’m from northern New Jersey where the second largest concentration of Cubans lives in after Miami. I have been to very good Cuban restaurants here including Rumba Cubana and some restaurants along Bergenline in Union City. Do you think Versailles is similar to Cuban restaurants up North?

I can't compare them to the ones from New Jersey but the most well known Cuban restaurants in Miami are Versailles,La Carreta,Sergio's and Islas Canarias.I live in Orlando now and theres a lot of fake and downright bad Cuban restaurants, even the few that do it right just have fewer options on the menu than the restaurants I mentioned.Tampa has better options but at least in Florida Miami has the most and best options, with that said even in Miami there are plenty of mediocre places.

Never ate Cuban outside Miami, so could not compare.

I can say though that the ones mentioned, are pretty good compared to a lot of unknown/hole in the wall ones, and the ones in a tourist trap (like Bayside).

The Versailles is the place to take people from out of town when in Miami. It doesn't get much more Cuban than in there.

Great food and a cool atmosphere

I have not eaten at any Cuban restaurant in NJ. I have been to Cuba 10 times (as recently as last week) and have yet to find a place in Miami that is as good as some of the paladares I’ve eaten at in Havana...odd, considering there are more resources available in Miami though the food is organic in Cuba....I’ve not had a chance to try Columbia in Tampa.

The Columbia is more Spaniard than a Latin America stop. Great food and ambiance there in Ybor City.

Their wine list is a book as big as a bible !!!

Columbia in Sarasota is very good. But I have never been to Cuba.

In NYC I only know Victor's Cafe, but I was there a long time ago, so can't remember much.

For a Cuban sandwich, Sanguich de Miami is not bad...I am also looking forward to giving Michelle Bernstein’s new restaurant, Cafe La Trova a shot.

I have wondered the same thing about Italian restaurants here vs NY or Chinese restaurants here vs San Francisco.
