With a 4 yr. old - depends what you like to do and what kind of lifestyle you like.

I would move to the beach. It's very "free", pet friendly, walkable in many areas. A little crowded depending where. Brickell Key is very nice but I think it's pretty dead after business hours.

Maybe Key Biscayne.

All this is very expensive so you'll need to figure out your budget.

Btw, check this out:

look up Miami on Google Maps and hit the "Traffic" Button, now you can see what traffic is like right, or you can look at traffic for certain days and times (based on past conditions).

Brickell is safer, cleaner, more residences, and very attractive. The best public elementary school in Brickell is Southside Elementary on 13th St and 1st Av. It's also a museum magnet school and is highly rated. I prefer Brickell to Downtown personally, and I think for a child is better. You have a lot of parks in Downtown and Brickell, so it's nice to get out and walk around.

Brickell Key in specific is very, very exclusive, quiet and extremely safe, nothing ever happens there.

Hello,
Yes of course I remember you. How are you doing?
Yes, I live very close to Dadeland and its a short 7 mile commute to work from there. I have been here a year now and absolutely love it; should have come here years ago. My spanish vocabulary is increasing by the hour.
Btw, most of the people here are extra friendly and helpful. They will go out of the way to help you if you are new here. I have made many friends.
Maybe the Miami discussed on this forum is another city elsewhere.
You think??
Take care

ps- Is anyone going to the Bill Maher show in South Beach this Friday?
