Don't get me wrong, its the prettiest and probably the oldest area of residential Miami. You guys should set your sights higher than Coral Gables. Paradise is like heaven; Coral Gables isn't heaven, is it?

After actually living in Coral Gables for 40+ years I feel more than qualified to comment on its good and not-so-good qualities. It was MY paradise when I arrived in 1966 and I left in 2001 for my Oregon Adventure. YES, the traffic has annoyingly increased. In the 70s you could shoot a cannon down Miracle Mile and not hit anything (on a Sunday morning). When I left, it took 1/2 hour to drive one mile during rush-hour.

BUT, if I were to move back to Miami-Dade County...... The Gables would be my destination of choice because I consider it MY oasis surrounded by areas I try to avoid unless absolutely necessary to traverse.

It's cute, but Coral Gables is way too overpriced for what it is. And then there is the hassle of code enfocement, although they seem to be more fair than Team Metro. It's a tremendous hassle just to maintain or repair your home, there were even illegal laws about pickup trucks. New homes all have to be the same pseudo-Spanish style, and the roads are about a smooth as an alligator's back. At least there are trees, but that was true county-wide a few decades ago. Personally I would live in one of the "horse country" areas before coral Gables, most likely southwest ranches where you get a better deal for the same overinflated price.
