Gov. Desantis came within a hair of losing the election to someone who was later found in a hotel OD'd on drugs with 2 gay male prostitutes. Those are the kind of people you NYers seem to like. Feel free to visit but please buy a return ticket.
Pretty harsh.

Not sure what you meant addressing the other poster, but no one in their right mind could really have thought Gillum would be better, than just about anyone.
What that poster said was true. He was found naked and unconscious on a hotel room floor with at least one male prostitute and drugs like Meth in the room.

Anyway, back to the subject at hand. I did not see where the OP said the price range they were talking about.
Both Coral Gables and Pinecrest are upscale, and you are not going to touch much under 1 million. When you throw in access to a private beach, now you are talking 3 million plus. You'd need to be in Gables by the Sea, Cocoplum, etc.
Quality public schools are around, as are top notch private ones. I am very familiar with south Florida in general, Miami in particular, so I have a few ideas. However, unless you said it in an earlier post, what is your budget?

Someone coming on here asking a simple question about relocating and this is the hostile, low IQ response they get? Where are the moderators?

Check out the public libraries in the areas you are considering. Pinecrest has an insanely good library. Coral Gables has a decent library. Coco Grove & South Miami libraries are a joke.
(There is one overarching county library system to which all of these branches belong, and it's easy to order books or other materials to be shipped to your branch (or home) from another branch, but the local collections and the upkeep of the local branch's building, as well as what sorts of patrons hang out in the library, tells you something useful about the area, I think.)

Anybody leaving very safe Westchester County, NY to move to crime ridden Miami is nuts, even Orlando is loaded with crime compared to Westchester County!

Yeah, unless your really wealthy. Even the supposedly good public schools won’t hold a candle to the good districts in Westchester.

You'll be amazed what lengths people go through to move to Florida. People get so caught up in the hype of year-round summers they forget that Florida is just like any other place. There are pros and cons. Florida has some crime-ridden areas heck I lived in freaking Jacksonville, which is pretty crime-ridden by Florida standards but I still found nice and peaceful neighborhoods within city limits. Miami has done a great job cleaning it's image but hood culture still exist there.

I lived in Florida for ten years, when I look at the crime stats now in the Orlando area suburbs that used to be great neighborhoods it's very shocking. My friend lives in Winter Garden and says, "nobody wants to live in Orlando anymore." I almost can't believe I lived in Florida for ten years, it seems like a dream now, I have some nice memories of Miami, Boca, Disney and Orlando area, Daytona, etc.

When I moved to Jacksonville in 2019 one of my friends in Orlando said Jax was nicer (he lived in the hood side of Orlando). All of the Florida big cities have noticeable violent crime, but most transplants who move to Florida never really have to worry about the ghetto culture in Florida. Even though I lived in one of the worst area codes in Jacksonville, I had plenty of getaway spots where I could escape the hood culture. Miami always felt hood to me since it has a noteworthy rap scene in the late 80s-early 2010s

fine with me. i'll stick with north eastern new jersey. everybody stops smiling south of jacksonville. give me a big fat woman who is smiling during a snow blizzard, the enthusiasm, the camaraderie, and the difficult but exciting life of ours any day of the week. i have a cottage in haiti and would never pay even more expensive prices to visit your unearthly state.
