Sorry, I think I left out some words.
Comcast: Any word on how they are doing, work culture, pay, etc.? Good company to work for? They are good here in Colo. (as far as working for them!) Also, since you are a system admin: Can you guess on current salaries, for someone with a bachelors, some certifications and about 10 yrs. experience? Are there jobs to come by in Miami or is it a tough market for IT? I know it's always tough, competitive, but is it really bad? Thanks! |

Market? Umm like every other market in S. FLorida, under pays. You can find some good jobs with your qualifications, assuming you have MCSE, Computer Science degree and 10 yrs of experience as network admin. Low end is 35,000 to 50,000. mid 45,000 to 65,000 and high end you get the picture. It all boils down to your qualifications and where you are looking. I don't work for private sector firms (I refuse to) so I am in a different space but you can definitely find something. Hope that helps. |

Miami is an entrepreneur's city. Its a hustla's city. You can make whatever you want of it. I think there are many many contractors and small business owners who do extremely well, really...

Look at Royal Caribbean for IT too...or any of the educational institutions...NOVA, FIU, UM etc.

hey thanks, I was asking on behalf of my DH, I'm in law myself. Actually, the salaries you listed don't seem so low, not compared to Colo. He says Colo. is really competitive because the market is so saturated.
He is in private sector now, but about two years ago he was in contract work with the U.S. govt., so all of his clearances are still good. I think he said they are good for 10 yrs. He has a dual degree in tech writing and CIS. We really aren't sure about Miami, may be we'll try for Ft. Lauderdale or Palm Beach. Quote:

I'll be looking for law jobs, I am paralegal certified, but most of my experience is as a legal secretary. I actually like being a secretary because your hours are set, and you get a lot of perks. |

I have been seeing this more and more in the internet world but have never heard someone say this in person. What exactly does "DH" mean?
