However, when they realize they can't afford all that, living situations are poor and they make only $9, it will be rough for anyone, and not just Miami, but in NY also, let alone anywhere in the world. My choice for Miami? My family and I want to start out new and just want a change and hope for the best just like everyone else does when moving to a new location.

To me, Miami is nothing like New York City. Namely, NYC is extremely walkable, has great public transport, and is truly ethnically diverse. The plus to Miami is the warm weather and water. Just my 2 cents!

I'm from NYC and moved to Miami 12 yrs ago because I got sick and tired of the hustle and bustle and wanted a change of pace.

I have never been back and I haven't missed it but I don't regret spending the biggest part of my life there. New York is an education all on its own.

I have maintained my cut-throat tell it like it is personality and don't subscribe to the glitz and glamour wannabes rampant in Miami.

Miami doesn't have what NY has and vice versa. Each is different in their own way, their own good things, their own bad things, their own "deal with it" things, and they should not be compared. All depends on your likes and dislikes, wants and/or needs, affordability, lifestyle choices.

Which Miami were you in. Miami is a Hispanic locale. ONce you enter Miami- you have crossed the border without your passport. The American is in the minority. IT is a diverse group, now with Italians, Russians - still is Hispanic.- I find it interesting. Just have to get up to Lauderdale, Delray, Boca etc every once in a while to see the Americans again.

Absolutely- Miami is like a mini Los Angeles in many ways.

If you compare Miami to another city- it is hands down Los Angeles.

Weather wise, palm trees and beaches, tatoo people, THe "fake people", fashion trendwise. yeah, like a mini L.A.

Compare it to NYC- like pees and apples.

miami may be number 2 in garment but def not banking. charlotte would win that battle easily.

Wachovia is gone, Bank of America is practically (if not literally) insolvent. Miami is definitely a more significant international banking center than Charlotte.

Miami needs to build up its mom and pop companies, support them to the fullest. They need to make sure to build tons of store/office space near that marlins stadium for this purpose and make sure mass transit goes to that stadium. Get people walking around, that is the best way to draw business in (foot traffic).

Miami and NYC do not equal each other. With that said, Miami is showing strong promise, if they can just start voting people based on their economic, social and political agenda and not ethnicity that place could be a power house in the south.

This requires more planning and coordination than I've ever seen in Miami, but there's always hope.

I still roll my eyes when I think about how hard it is to get to the Arscht center, and given that, how they neglected to provide parking.
