What parks are there, seriously? Tropical Park isn't exactly much of park. It's hardly scenic and it isn't that big. I would love to see parks in Miami along the lines of Fairchild, but free of charge and open all hours. My biggest gripe with Miami is that this city has turned 99.99% of available land over to the highest bidder, causing it to become the concrete jungle that it is today. Maybe someday, people here will realize that while parks may not generate revenue, they are extremely beneficial to the community as a whole and make the urban environment far more tolerable.

Depends what type of park you're looking for. Miami proper has 80 parks, which seems suitable for a city of around 400,000 people imho. I mean yes there aren't tons of parks like Fairchild, but really, how many cities have a ton of huge parks like that?

It is enjoyable to read intelligent , solid posts from you ... I have to agree with you here 100% ... we have more parks in Broward than anywhere in Dade and yes public parks add quality of life value

I was responding to a Moderator cut: Personal Attack named bizforum ... and yes Miami has plenty of fat people and low lifes no debating that ... but Massachusetts and / or Connecticut are no better .. and unlike you I am up there 3-4 times a year on business .. and by the way both Mass and CT have plenty of Hispanics ... go to Hartford and you will think you are in a "barrio " in San Juan , Puerto Rico .

Fast food restaurants are harder to find in Massachusetts .. c'mon man are you kidding ... I just spent a day driving up and down route 9 in Natick , Ashland and Framingham and all there is are fast food restaurants everywhere .... your dislike of Miami is blinding you to the point where your posts are inaccurate and misleading .. I give you credit when you are correct , but this post is blatantly wrong . There are McDonalds , Wendys , Boston Market , Chilis , Starbucks , etc , etc on very corner up there !!!!

I totally agree, the 30 acres downtown that they want to take 8 acres away to put buildings on (to make money) could be 30 acres of a beautiful park for tourist and locals to walk around or even exercise. Yet Miami can't seem to take the money out of it. I would love to see a free park like San Fran has or like the park in Vancouver, but I know that will not happen.

.
Seriously you need to move. You already have that NE attitude that some people have up there(I'm better than the rest of the country) You only see the things you want to see, but as long as you see them that way and you move, it doesn't matter what others see or think, but you need to move already.

Rock

I remember the days when there wasn't a single junk food establishment on 8th St. and the entire SW.
I remember that newly arrived Cubans called "eating American" going to junk food chains. Jesus, what happened to that city?
Is that the "Americanization Process"?
Going to junk food places and becoming a blimpo?
Of course there are junk food places in New England, man, they are all around.
They should put a ban on those places.
Rather eat a "frita" or a "pan con bistec" on a corner than in any of those chains.

It pretty much goes like this:

Groups that will generally like living in Miami:

South America
Europe
Central America
Caribbean
Hispanic USA
Canada
Australia
South Africa
Southeast Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, etc.)
India
Middle East / Turkey

Groups that generally don´t like living in Miami:

Pretty much most of non-Spanish speaking USA outside of Miami-Dade, including California except for...

Groups that like Miami, but don´t like to admit it, because they are constantly complaining that it is inferior to New York

New Yorkers

I am not sure about the following groups:

North & Central Africa
China & Japan

Spot on! The Chinese and Japanese would adapt here just fine. They are not whiners and complainers.

I say we start a fund for those who are just miserable people to leave Miami for good. Maybe we can charter some buses to take them all to NC?

Add hobos to your list too.
