Hi everyone,

I'm a South African - living in Cape Town right now - and I'm keen to spend some time working and travelling in the south east region of America. More specifically, I need to be able to go train for depth freediving (breathhold diving) at a spot called Dean's Blue Hole in the Bahamas, on Long Island. I'd like to finance my training/travels in Miami or Florida for a few months, then head over to Bahamas for a few weeks as often as possible.

The big question is, however, securing a job and visa to do this. Can anyone tell me what the 'standard' procedure is? My background is magazine editorial/production, but I'm willing to 'get my hands dirty' with any decent work to fund my way. Does anyone have any helpful info, and any good contacts for employment agencies that deal a lot with South Africans? Also, is it worth risking travelling on a tourist visa, and then securing informal work while there?

Thanks!
Paul
