Default moving to Miami

Hi...my husband recently accepted a one year fellowship position in Miami. He will be working at Bascom Palmer. Is it possible to rent a house in the Miami area? We would like to spend less than $2000 month and we also have two dogs (one large, one medium sized) and two cats. We also have a child who will begin Kindergarten next year, so we would like to be in a "good" school area. Could someone advise me as to what area we should look in. Our ideal would be a 3 bedroom with a fenced yard. We will be arriving in July. I am not really sure where to begin. Thanks for any help!!

Start out by researching the Miami threads, there are many people with similar requests.

Craiglist is a great option online to find houses. There are many houses that are 3 bed with fenced yards and rented out.

If you want good schools you will have to invest in a private school. Otherwise, there is an area near Bascom Palmer called Spring Harbour, it is a little suburban cottage type community adjacent to the hospital complex. It would work if you want to be next to the hospitals, downtown, the beach and airport. More suburban areas to try would be the Gables or the Grove.

Good luck.

my brother just rented a 3/2 in Coconut
Grove (right off Bayshore Dr and Mercy Hospital) for $1700/month. It's not very modern, but the area is nice.

Private school is definitely the way to go...if you can get in
