Default Best place to live near Miami Airport?

I am considering taking a job at Miami International Airport. I am single and want a safe apartment/condo. Will I be able to find this in the $800-1000 range or am I really off the mark?

Miami Springs and Doral are both close and safe. I have no idea about prices though, you might wanna check craigslist
But watch out, Hialeah is right next to Miami Springs, somebody might be advertising a home in Hialeah or Virginia Gardens as Miami Springs.

Working at MIA you can live in a lot of places and still have a relatively short commute. $800-1000 doesn't sound unreasonable in a safe area for a smaller place in most of Miami, but I think you need to be more specific as to what you like to do and what general areas you want to be in.
Beach vs city. More urban vs more suburban. More or less Spanish speaking.

I agree to start out on Craigslist, it is a little easier to digest and get some general ideas about cost and areas before zeroing in on a specific area.

Miami Springs and Virginia Gardens are the best choice if you want to buy or rent a house close to the airport, but I wouldn't live in an apartment in those areas. They are in the perimeter of those neighborhoods and are sketchy at best. I think a safer choice would be Doral. Lots of nice apartments there. Good luck.

Forgot to mention - going to and from Doral you will get some traffic, but that's anywhere (except for an airport - Miami Springs or VG commute, no traffic there, but like I said, you don't want to rent an apt there). Just wanted to warn you to expect traffic delays.

Yeah I'm sure you can get a good deal right now in Doral. Lots of empty apartments and townhouses around here.

True...with that budget the best options are Miami Springs and Doral...especially Doral, you should be able to rent a Studio or a 1br/1ba condo.

Check these sites:

Apartments For Rent

And check craigslist too ( like diddiyo already said ).

Doral is nearby and is safe and has a lot of newer buildings, although it is suburban. Miami Springs is right next to MIA but it's also suburban and mostly only single-family homes. Fountainbleau has a lot of apartments as well and it's just south of MIA parallel to the Dolphin Expressway.

If you want an urban area, I'd highly suggest you look into Downtown or Brickell. Although they're not across the street like the other places, Downtown and Brickell are close enough that the commute is pretty short and it's a lot more interesting with much better options. I'd look into the Downtown and Brickell area.

Traffic is worse in Doralezuela (Doral) than any other part of Miami (except maybe Kendall). It is a nice, clean area that is relatively safe, but you will find that maybe only 1 out of 20 people there speak Englsih as a first language, and 1 in 5 don't speak English at all.

Yes, lots houses for sale here that is true .
People have realized why pay big money for postage stamp property when you can buy way more and nicer in other area's of Miami.

Not to mention if you leave you car at dealer, garage there is no public transportation here .
