I was exploring the outer rim of drivable roads in Miami-Dade last Sunday and remembered some king of hidden tower that you can climb up. Is there an abandoned lookout tower or weather station in the Everglades that can be accessed by foot? I remember seeing pictures of this somewhere, it seems like it is an off the beaten path gem. I like to explore...

I like to explore also recently got my hunting license to collect a scarlet kingsnake . I have never seen that tower in the Glades .

Granted I have not gone all over . Going this weekend if I see it will take pic of it. Sound's neat I myself wouldn't climb it but does sound interesting.

The Shark Valley Observation Tower is probably the one that you're thinking of. The trailhead is off of Tamiami Trail and is a loop seven miles one way and eight miles back. It's not exactly abandoned as trams take tourists up there numerous times each day. The observation deck can either be crowded or you could be the only one up there for a good hour depending on if you get there in between trams and on an off day. There are a number of small trails that you can walk, with plenty of snakes and gators to be seen.
