The PortMiami Tunnel? The Henry Kinney Tunnel? Underground parking garages in Brickell?

It can be done but at a substantially higher cost and if a hurricane comes it is very likely to flood.

I didn't mention that the whole system had to be built at once. The tunnels are no exception. Besides, when a hurricane arrives, we'll surely know ahead of time, because we'll install flood gates at any tunnel portals, just like at the PortMiami Tunnel.

I like it a lot, but I'm not sure if politicians would ever approve of the costs...On top of that, Rick Scott just got re-elected and he seems quite anti-Rail/anti-Miami in general.

I like this a lot as well but I think the costs would be astronomical. Especially if building underground at some points. The costs of getting the digger underground at busy intersections and running long paths underground are just insane. I think an elevated system is the way to go as much as possible.

I definitely see the need for the beach route. This should have been done all the way from the airport to begin with and maybe raise money from the tourists? Maybe even have a raised fare for a south beach trip?

That's what I meant when I said it would be underground in dense areas. Where there is enough green space, like a wide enough median, we can place elevated rail. It's also a matter of aesthetics, you know.

BTW, again, it doesn't have to be built all at once.

BTW, as I said before, my dream system doesn't have to be built all at once. I'm aware of the potential cost.

To be honest even though Rick Scott stupidly didn't accept high speed rail money I don't think he is anti public transit because I'm surprised at how easy some cities are able to get money for projects. It really goes back to the county level government and people running the transportations systems there. If they don't actively pursue money for projects and have no clear game plan then nothing will happen.
