Let's see, 52 million wasted in the 1980's, untold millions wasted maintaining the place and now only 20 years later, the Miami Arena gets it's roof blown down. This was the project that was going to "redevelop" overtown. It's only taxpayer money, right? If you want to see the future of the "AA" arena and the proposed baseball stadium, just drive by the remains of the pink elephant. That's your tax money being hauled off as junk.

From what Ive read The Miami Arena was destined to fail before it was even built. It was built way too small to sustain an NBA team, which in effect lead to the AA Arena, right? Dont expect anything to happen to that gem. Its highly active and able to sustain a team for decades to come, theres a steady amount of concerts and events held their, so why would it face any demolition? The baseball Stadium is yet to be seen, to call it a failure already is way too premature, the contract in the stadium says the Marlins have to stay in town and that stadium for I belive 30 years! Thats really all a baseball stadium is for so.....

The AAA is a nice stadium, it's on the water and its not in a total ghetto area like the Miami Arena. The only other thing that needs to happen to downtown is the 395 tunnel under the ship channel, and the transplant of 50,000 Miami bums to another continent and we'll be gravy - no more gov't handouts!!! I'm sick of the bum influence downtown... They need to make them disappear like they did on Brickell a few years ago...

I actually kind of like seeing bums in downtown areas as long as they aren't aggressive. Makes you feel like your "downtown".

LoL yea they add 'flavor' ......NOT!!! The only reason Brickell has flourished and downtown north of the Miami River remains gated and barred after 5 PM is because there are no bums on Brickell, and if they're there, they are under constant threat of 'disappearing'..... Ahem! City of Miami Police! Thomas Jefferson would turn over in his grave...

To me the inside of the AAA looks "unfinished". Pipes everywhere. Not looking at the location, I prefer the Bankatlantic Center over the AAA.

Bank Atlantic Center is actually larger- 20,737 seats as opposed to AAA's 19,600 seats.
