Yup - I got out and so have thousands and thousands since the 60's.

I am on this post bringing up the issues whether you like them or not, weather you read books written in English or not, weather you watch English documentaries/history/culture/art or not (not kid shows like MTV)......because I am trying to warn anyone who is thinking of moving to lousy Mehammy to stay away.

Thanks for you input - you merely justified all of my reasons to stay away. Stay in Miami, that is exactly where every one else in the US wants you.
__________

Yeah, art shows, books and history are DEFINITELY the social norms of the whole USA outside of Miami of course!

I understand a bit to your posts, don't get me wrong.. I can understand how bigots would hate living in a city where people are difern'.

I'm glad I justified your reasons to stay away, I didn't realize an understanding of capitalism and social norms of the US was a reason to stay away from a city!

The cell phones certainly are a huge problem but the politicians who do nothing at all and dont ban them like they have in many states are the real culprit.

They dont care if a mom driving her kids to school is killed if they did they would have banned them. Its that simple.

As a whole take many who cant drive let them use cell phone and text and disaster is the result.

As you know some here are incapable of driving without using cell phone its like their car wont run unless they are on the cell phone.
They back up while speaking on it and just continue the journey yip yaspping aimless garbage.

You do have many men who drive like they want to hurt someone its like the car is their fist they tail gate when no need, swerve in and out of traffic ,etc .
Those need to be locked up as in most places its reckless driving but again that requires new politicians here who care about something besides their safe deposit box and cops from out of state not the Miami raised key stone cops who were born not knowing what traffic laws are.

I had an employee who could speak English (for the most part), but later I realized he could not read English well which resulted in poor comprehension and understanding......once again, sadly, our cultural differences are lost in translation.

Here you go - if you dig deep enough you will understand my case. If not, you will continue to put "text in my mouth!"

No state has a total cell phone ban for drivers. Not even Penn!
Novice drivers, bus drivers, yes, but not outright banning.
State Cell Phone Driving Laws

What I think works is a total handheld and text ban. Bluetooth devices are cheap and allow you to keep both hands on the road. Cali did this right when we left -- it actually was a little economy pick-up too b/c so many people needed to buy b4 the handheld ban went into effect!

Art Basel was last week (and AMAZING!!!).
The Book Fair was last month.

There is NO ARGUMENT that can be made that for 1 week each year, Miami is the center of the universe for contemporary art or publishing.
They are pretty international events, but English was absolutely the event language.

You can argue about "shades of gray" the rest of the year, but those 2 events are real, great and inspiring and add the the total package here in SoFla.

Yes correct blue tooth is fine there . I should have said they need to ban hand held here .

In truth I would ban even Blue tooth here as horrid drivers. Last night about 8pm I took a ride to ToysRUs in Doral .
2 big accidents on the way there one with 3 cars and 1 Suv who ate a phone poll and the other 2 cars.

I see more accidents in S.Florida here in week than did there in year. The people here need to drive and do just that .

Combine speed -disregard for traffic laws- Keystone cops who have no concept of what traffic laws are and add cell phone even blue tooth so the drivers mind is some place else and you now have a disaster called S.Florida.

# This has to be only place where even kids school bus drivers chit chat on cell phones while they drive .

You can't ban cellphones -- it has been shot down legally. Handsfree is as good as we'll get. We CAN and should ban bus drivers from cellphone usage of ANY kind!

Technically, Miami IS pretty bad to drive-in accident wise, but we're not nearly the worst! DC seems to have taken that one:

(Well, maybe nearly.)

Interestingly, Ft Lauderdale ranks in the top ten (on the good side) for it's size!?! And better than Charlotte! (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
