We will move to Miami and probably Coconut Grove
We will move to Miami and my husband’s colleagues recommend Coconut Grove as a good place to live. The office is in Coral Gables/close to the airport. Is Coconut Grove a good place to live with a 6-year old boy? The colleagues also say that the elementary school is good in Coconut Grove. Is that correct? Which part of Coconut Grove is best to live in?

East of Grand Avenue is the nicest part. It is a fairly wealthy area and the elementary school there is well-regarded. One of my favorite parts of the neighborhood is that there is a charming downtown area with stores and restaurants that is perfect to stroll or to walk your dog as wel.

Stay away from the West side. Generally speaking in Miami, always stay East of US1, Biscayne Blvd, South Dixie Highway, whatever thousand names US1 has in Dade County. The closer to the water, the better.

A glaring exception to this would be areas west of US1 in Kendall, South Miami, and Coral Gables.

ooo I'm living in coconut grove right now and I love it here! Like everyone says, the west part of the grove is rough (anything west of SW32nd ave) but other than that it is great here! You'll see people walking around the streets at all times. You will feel safe in this area, and for the most part there is nothing to worry about. That being said, I'm not telling you to be stupid about things, but just know that you're in a nice safe part of Miami. Coconut grove is nice because it has everything in the area within walking distance, it has a grocery store, home depot, restaurants ranging from mcdonalds, to a laid back 10 dollar meal to meals going for 25-30+. When are you moving here?

My husband will maybe move (or start to work) before, but the rest of the family will probably move in March/April.
Thanks for the answers! It seems to be a good area.
