I'm sure the Chicago board can answer better, but the wind "problem" is really downtown. The large buildings tighten the wind horizontally and bring it down vertically and create wind tunnels. There are literally ropes tied to some buildings to hold on to on bad days. But I really think that's just downtown.
The issue with Chicago TO ME would be the cold. It gets seriously cold there for months. Like near 0 F. BRRR

Good luck.

I lived in Chicago for almost three years before I moved to Austin and then South Florida and now Pennsylvania. The wind is not the problem. It is the extremely low temperatures, ice, and very short summer.

What are the great things about Miami?

I'd be looking to live on the coast or quite near perhaps Miami Beach or South Beach - what are the good and bad things about living in this area?

Weather is great and beach close to all yr long is great for some to hot 4 to 6 months a yr for me its great.

I would consider taking out San Francisco too b/c it's pretty much just as windy, even slightly more than Chicago. I grew up in the Bay Area and the wind and fog in SF SUCKS! It's always a cold wind too.

Also Chicago being called the "Windy City" has absolutely nothing to do with the weather in case that is what you were thinking.

I have to say if it wasn't for Miami I would have never discovered that cultural anthropology (and photography) were my life's passions. Would have never got that coming up in Orlando....would have been a business major
