I think there is a ridge line that goes North and South around 27th ave and NW 7th st that is the "biggest hill" in Miami. Just curious if anyone knows the official highest point of Miami, because I believe there is an official one...

I think it's the mound at Greynold's Park... the one where the castle is. At least it used to be the highest point. Not sure if it still is.

Your head. You won't encounter anything taller than that in Dade County.

Probably a contrived mound on one of the golf courses

This is a little offtopic but Al Gore said that Miami goes underwater when greenland melts or something like that.

Im moving anyway but the people who stay here, they are kinda screwed?

I'm more concerned about you actually listening to Al Gore.

Yeah, in 200 years.
In our lifetimes the oceans won't rise more than a foot or 2 at worst. This will cause MAJOR headaches, but Miami will NOT be underwater in anyone's lifetime. I wouldn't be buying real estate in some places like Venetian Island though, even today.

There is a ridge of limestone that runs basically from Cutler Ridge to western Downtown Miami. It's height goes to ~25' above sea level at it's highest - the driveway at our house near UM is ~15' above sea level.
You can see this really clearly from certain spots including the bridge at the CocoPlum circle. It's pretty cool actually -- add the giant iguanas that live on the cliffs and it's pretty prehistoric!

EDIT: While Googling for the answer, I came across this:
http://www.cohp.org/fl/Miami_Dade_3.html
These guys chronicle going around with an altimeter trying to find the official, non-manmade high point.
Man, I thought I had too much time on my hands! lol

What is the highest point? I thought a few people here might know, I remember reading about it in a book.

If Miami goes underwater in the next 1,000 years, so will London, NYC, Beijing, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, an a host of other cities that are much more important than Miami. If the weather has changed SO much over the last 100 years, why can't anyone prove that the water level has actually risen thus far IN PROPORTION to the amount of carbon being emitted. If one of you koolaid drinking -- tin hat wearing folks says "well, it rose by 1/2 centimeter," you will only prove me right. The water level HASN'T risen so far.

I expect hear some screeching liberal doomsday rant on how capitalism killed planet earth.

It's a scientific fact that sea levels are rising -- so far about 8" per century:

There is no debate about that.

The debate is why and how much more. At even 1' per century, Miami has a good 300 years before we're in New Orleans shoes.

Google for your highest point answer.

Mount trashmore is the highest land in Miami-Dade county. The highest point further inland is at 87ave and sw miller road. The entire southeast coast has a rise as you go west, then a drop in elevation as you go further west. There are a few inland ridges, but most have been lost to overdevelopment.
